I See Reasoning – Y1 by Gareth Metcalfe provides a wide range of visual, discussion-generating mathematical tasks for children in Year 1. 'Read the Pictures' examples represent maths concepts visually and use real-world contexts. ‘Explain the Mistakes’ and ‘Correct or Incorrect?’ examples help children to build understanding. 'Odd One Out' prompts allow children to think creatively and ‘Explain’ tasks enable children to talk about key ideas. Then, the ‘Different Ways' tasks deepen the challenge! The resource is comprised of 365 tasks, linked to all different areas of the Y1 mathematics curriculum (children aged 5-6).
